Zeal & Ardor is an ambitious project born from the mind of Manuel Gagneux, which combines the sounds of African-American spirituality with European-style black metal.
Gagneux was born in Basel, Switzerland in 1989, to an African American mother and Swiss father. Both of Gagneux’s parents were musicians, and he learned piano at an early age.

As a teenager, he was in a black metal band named Hellelujah.
The compositions of the single songs are unsettling, always articulated on several musical genres, which can range from pop, to soul music, from spiritual tribal music to electronic, but always with references to black metal or post metal, in a continuous progression, musical evolution.
Little one gotta heed my warning
Devil Is Fine
Devil is kind
He come in early morning
Devil is fine
He go by many names
Devil is kind
We gonna go home to the flames
Devil is fine
He gon’ forgive my sin
Devil is kind
He promise many things
Devil is fine
I can’t do him no wrong
Devil is kind
I see him before long
Devil is fine
Nobody gonna show you the way now
Nobody gonna hold your hand no
Nobody gonna show you the way now
Devil is fine
