HÆLOS – Somnum
Music Suggestion
HÆLOS is a British trip hop band from London.
They emerged in the early 2010s with a revival of the 90’s British trip hop.
Taking inspiration from the “maestri” Massive Attack, from Moby, from The xx and the Portishead, they have been able to add more atmospheric settings, dream voices, temporal and spatial dilations in their compositions.
All of this is reflected in their latest EP Sonnum, released in 2021, as an exclusively ambient composition, inspired by sleep (or, in this case, lack thereof).
On the single, Lotti Benardout (cover photo) shares:
“Each of us has been struggling with sleep, albeit for different reasons. I’ve been traversing brand new cycles of Motherhood with my new baby boy, Daniel often working night hours engineering at a studio, and Dom has struggled with tinnitus for years. So we were inspired to create an ambient record. It’s a standalone piece of music that offered us the opportunity to do something different and we loved the process. It puts to bed an old chapter as we look to our third LP. “
We suggest listening to the LP in your moments of seeking concentration and relaxation and also to go to bed in peace with a soothing soundtrack.
Never follow those who let you go,
Somnum
Dream the dream for those who’ll never know
Never follow those who let you go,
Dream the dream for those who’ll never know.
Don’t know what to dream about
Aurora
Just don’t wanna dream of you
Don’t know what to dream about
‘Cause I came to spend my days with you
Don’t know what to dream about
Just don’t wanna dream of you
‘Cause I came to spend my days with you
