Converge • Chelsea Wolfe – Bloodmoon: I
Music Suggestion
After years of collaborations, where the entire Converge line-up, Chelsea Wolf and Stephen Brodsky performed live with the moniker Blood Moon, re-arranging the less famous and slower songs of Converge, they release the first LP of unpublished songs that enshrines this very interesting musical project.
It’s not a typical Converge post core, metal core record, but the sound is heavily influenced by the interpretation of dark priestess Chelsea Wolfe, the musical insights of former Converge member Stephen Brodsky and Ben Chisholm, Chelsea Wolfe writing collaborator.
It starts with the title track Blood Moon where the influences of all the members come out
Blood moon ascends in the night
Blood Moon
Cosmic unblinking eye
Gazing through flesh and bone
Into the glow of our souls
The day has broken
A stain, a crime
You, serpent
Deicide
The day has broken
A stain, a crime
You, serpent
Deicide
Moving on to the most interesting songs like Coil, with a gothic flavor and an epic crescendo, to post-rock melodic elaborations with a catchy refrain like Failure Forever, for the southern dark ballad Scorpion ‘s Sting, up to the epic masterpiece of the band Crimson Stone.
It’s like a serpent
Coil
Coiled inside me
Sign of the sacred song
Slithering sweetly
Odd with intention
This coil furls on and on
Sign of the sacred song
This coil furls on and on
Constant reminders
Failure Forever
Our failures last forever
As years fall, the fear takes root
Growing constant reminders
Our failures last forever
As years fall the fear takes root
Forever
Stand in the way
Crimson Stone
Stand in the way and fate will simply go around
Forces at play
Forces at play flipping worlds upside down
Trembling souls
Trembling souls shaken into piles of bone
Blood running cold
Blood running cold before it hardens into stone
