An album that you have surely missed in 2020 is
that of Cave In – Heavy Pendulum.
A pleasant and surprising return to the scenes.

The band led by Stephen Brodsky, past member and currently feature guest of Converge, and also author of unmissable projects such as Mutoid Man and regular contributor to the heavy-metal comedy series Two Minutes to Late Night, churns out an LP of over 70 minutes of great music.

Heavy Pendulum is a amazing piece of work to listen to!

You can find headbanging sludge / stoner riffs, the musical progressions of Mastodon (Floating Skulls), the 90s grunge reminiscences of Alice in Chains (Heavy Pendulum) and Soundgarden (Nightmare Eyes), up to the folk rock references of a certain Neil Young (Wavering Angel), but in a decadent key.

There are 3 official singles released on streaming platforms.
New Reality and Blood Spiller, present two very funny videos and also show a part of the geek soul of the band members, as well as the desire to joke and make fun of certain types of stereotypes.
I leave the other to you to discover.

New reality (new reality)
Never knew would be (never knew would be)
Dawning on me
New reality (new reality)
Night is moving on (night is moving on)
Mourning the sun

In the back of their minds
Read between the lies
Wicked words at play
Cheap in every way

CAVE INBlood Spiller

Sure you will listen to this last great Cave In LP, I leave you with a quote from Brodsky, the frontman of the band, about the genesis of this album:

If you laid out the timeline for 2020 like a recipe, it might look something like this: global pandemic + lockdowns + worldwide protests over the wrongful death of George Floyd + election year = cocktail for end times. Somewhere in that concoction, we found ingredients for a new Cave In album. Blood Spiller is the sound of us swallowing it, getting ripped on the horrors within, and coming down to reflect on it through song.

Stephen Brodsky

“The legendary CAVE IN makes a highly anticipated return with their Relapse Records debut, Heavy Pendulum, their first full studio record in over a decade. The band (Stephen Brodsky – Guitar/Vocals, Adam McGrath – Guitar/Vocals, John-Robert Conners – Drums) sees a revival following the addition of Nate Newton (Converge, Doomriders, Old Man Gloom) on bass and vocals…”
